Terms of Sale
Returns
Our Return Policy sets out, in plain words, what can come back, what can’t, and how to return an item. It’s part of these terms: please read it before you buy.
The short version
The main points in plain words. The full terms follow below.
- Tracked to your door. Every order ships with tracking, and orders over $250 need a signature. Your order counts as delivered once the carrier marks it delivered at your address — with a delivery photo, a signature by anyone there, or delivery to a mailroom, concierge or parcel locker. From that moment, loss or theft is a matter for the police and your home or tenant insurance, and we'll give you every document you need.
- Something wrong? Tell us fast and we'll fix it. Send photos within 48 hours of delivery if anything arrives damaged, missing or wrong, and keep all the packaging: that's what lets us claim from the carrier and sort it out quickly. If tracking says delivered but you can't find your parcel, tell us within 3 days.
- Changed your mind? Returns are simple. Ask in your account within 14 days of delivery and wait for our OK before sending anything. Each product shows its return policy before you buy; most can come back factory-sealed, unused and complete, with a 20% restocking fee. Return shipping is on you, and the original shipping isn't refunded.
- A fair, quick check for everyone. We record the serial number of every unit and photograph every order before it leaves, and every return is opened on camera. It keeps every claim fast and fair — and it means a return has to be the same unit we shipped, unused and complete, or we can't accept it.
- A few things can't come back once they're used: memory cards once opened; modules, T-harnesses and remote starters once programmed or connected to a vehicle; and anything with cut wires, used adhesive or an activated subscription. Not sure a part fits? Send us your VIN before you order and we'll confirm it in writing.
- Warranty, handled by us. Defects are covered by the manufacturer's warranty and we deal with the claim for you. Installation isn't included with online orders, so damage caused by installation (including burnt or melted parts), water, accidents or modifications isn't covered, and neither is labour to remove or reinstall a product. Want it done right? We install at our Concord shop.
- Refunds straight back to your card — the one you paid with — within 15 days after we approve your return.
- Talk to us first — we're quick. We reply within 1–2 business days and fix real problems fast. Please contact us before your bank: a bank dispute freezes the order and slows everything down for you too.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
1.1 These terms are between you and Car Systems Installation ("we", "us", "our"), 582 Rivermede Rd, Unit 9, Concord, Ontario L4K 2H5 · (416) 901-5812 · [email protected] · carsystemsinstallation.ca.
1.2 They apply to products you buy through our online store for delivery. Installation work and purchases made at our shop have their own terms.
1.3 To order, you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live). Our online store sells products for the buyer's own use, not for resale.
1.4 Before you pay, you tick a box to confirm that you agree to these terms and to the return policy shown for each product. We save the exact version you agreed to, with the date, time and IP address, on your order. That version applies to your order, even if we change these terms later.
1.5 Your legal rights. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario), the consumer protection laws of your province, or the warranties those laws imply, where the law says they can't be waived. If part of these terms conflicts with those rights, that part applies only as far as the law allows, and the rest stays in force.
1.6 These terms work together with the return policy shown on each product, our Privacy Policy (carsystemsinstallation.ca/page/privacy-policy), and the order confirmation email we send you, which is your copy of our agreement. Please keep it.
2. Words we use
- Carrier: the delivery company that carries your order (for example UPS or Purolator).
- Delivered: the carrier's tracking shows the parcel delivered (a) to the shipping address on your order, (b) to a person, mailroom, concierge, reception desk, parcel locker or safe place at or for that address, (c) where you or someone at your address told the carrier to leave it, or (d) collected from a carrier location. The carrier's delivery record — scan, time, GPS position, photo or signature — is the proof of delivery.
- Factory-sealed: every manufacturer seal, and any seal sticker we add, is intact, the box has never been opened, and the product has never been taken out of its packaging.
- Unused: never connected to power or to a vehicle; never mounted or installed; never programmed, flashed, registered, paired, activated or updated; no protective film removed; no adhesive pad used; no wire cut, stripped, spliced or connected; no subscription, SIM card or software key activated; and no marks, scratches, odours or wear.
- Complete: the product with everything that came in its box (accessories, cables, mounts, adhesive pads, remotes, antennas, manuals, warranty cards, stickers and inserts) and any free gift or bonus item that came with the order, all in the original manufacturer packaging, which must be undamaged and free of tape, labels and writing.
- Installed: put in, wired, connected or fitted to a vehicle or a power source, by anyone.
- Return authorization: our written approval of a return or warranty claim, with a reference number, sent through your account or by email.
- Business day: Monday to Friday, except Ontario public holidays.
3. Orders, prices and payment
3.1 Product information. We describe products using the manufacturer's information and our own experience. Manufacturers sometimes change packaging, accessories, colours or minor specifications without notice. Pictures may show optional accessories; the description lists what's in the box.
3.2 Prices. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Before you pay, the checkout shows each item, shipping, taxes and the total. Taxes are charged according to the delivery address.
3.3 When we accept your order. Paying is your offer to buy. We accept your order when we ship it. Until then we may cancel it under 3.4; if we do, we refund everything you paid.
3.4 Orders we may cancel before shipping (with a full refund):
- (a) the product is out of stock or discontinued;
- (b) there is a clear error in a price or description (if the correct price is higher, we offer it to you first);
- (c) the payment is declined or reversed, or looks unauthorized or fraudulent;
- (d) we can't verify your identity, address or payment, or you don't answer a verification request within 2 business days;
- (e) the delivery address is outside Canada, a PO box, a parcel forwarding or reshipping service, or can't be delivered to;
- (f) the quantity or the pattern of orders suggests resale;
- (g) any reason in section 11 (fraud and abuse).
3.5 Verification. To protect you and us, we may ask you to confirm an order by phone or email, to complete your bank's security check (3-D Secure), or to confirm order details. We ship only after any verification is complete. We will never ask for your full card number or a password.
3.6 By ordering, you confirm that you are the holder of the payment card or account, or have the holder's permission, and that the information you give us is true and complete.
3.7 Promotions. Coupons, discounts and free gifts follow the terms of the promotion. Unless the promotion says otherwise, they can't be combined, have no cash value and don't apply to past orders. A free gift is part of your order (see 7.7).
3.8 Price changes. Prices can change at any time. We don't refund the difference if a price goes down after you buy, and returning a product to buy it again at a lower price is a normal return (restocking fee included).
3.9 Cancelling your order. Contact us as soon as possible. If the order hasn't been handed to the carrier yet, we cancel it and refund it in full. Once it's with the carrier, it can't be cancelled, stopped or redirected: you can return it under section 7, and refusing the parcel is handled under 5.9.
4. Products, fit and legal use
4.1 Fit and compatibility. You're responsible for choosing a product that suits your vehicle. Fit guides and compatibility lists come from manufacturers and can miss trims, options, model-year changes or earlier modifications to your vehicle.
Fit guarantee: if, before ordering, you send us your vehicle's VIN and the product you want, and we confirm in writing that it fits, and it doesn't, we take it back without a restocking fee and refund your original shipping, as long as it's unused and complete and you ask within the return window. Products bought without our written confirmation follow their normal return policy; an opened or used product can't be returned because it doesn't fit.
4.2 Installation isn't included. Remote starters, bypass and interface modules, T-harnesses, radios and screens, cameras and hard-wired dash cams connect to your vehicle's electrical system. Installing them wrongly can damage the product and the vehicle and can be dangerous. When anyone other than us installs a product, you're responsible for the installation and its results (see 8.7 to 8.9). We're happy to quote professional installation at our shop.
4.3 Manufacturer conditions. Some manufacturers honour their warranty only when the product is installed by an authorized dealer, or need dealer tools to program it. Where that applies, the product page says so. If such a product is installed by someone else, the manufacturer may refuse its warranty, and we can't overrule that decision.
4.4 Programmed and vehicle-specific products. Once a bypass module, interface module, remote starter, T-harness or similar product has been flashed, programmed, registered, paired or connected to a vehicle, it can't be returned, because it can't be sold as new again. This doesn't affect defect claims under section 8.
4.5 Apps, subscriptions and online services (such as smartphone control or LTE and cloud dash cam plans) are provided by other companies under their own terms and can change or stop. Activating a plan, SIM card or licence is final. We're not responsible for cellular or GPS coverage, app changes or service outages.
4.6 Legal use. You're responsible for using products lawfully — for example municipal idling bylaws and insurance conditions for remote starters, privacy and recording laws for dash cams that record audio or the inside of the vehicle, and rules about screens and obstructions in the driver's view.
4.7 Performance. Remote range, GPS accuracy, signal strength, video quality at night, parking-mode recording time and battery behaviour depend on the vehicle, the surroundings, the settings and the installation. Not reaching a manufacturer's best-case figures isn't a defect.
5. Shipping and delivery
5.1 Where we ship. Within Canada only. We don't ship to PO boxes, parcel forwarding or reshipping services, freight forwarders or addresses outside Canada; such orders are cancelled and refunded.
5.2 Your delivery details. Give a complete and correct address, plus a phone number and email where you can be reached. We ship to the address exactly as you entered it. We can't change it after payment: if it's wrong, contact us before the order ships and we'll cancel it so you can order again. If a parcel goes to, is lost at, or comes back from an address you entered incorrectly, that's your responsibility, and any carrier charges for correcting the address or returning the parcel are deducted from your refund or charged to you.
5.3 Your instructions to the carrier. If you, or anyone at your address, asks the carrier to redirect, hold, release or leave a parcel somewhere — including waiving a signature or choosing "leave at door" in the carrier's app or website — the parcel is Delivered when the carrier follows that instruction.
5.4 Signature. Orders over $250, and any order we decide needs it, ship with signature required. We can't remove the signature requirement on request. If nobody is there, the carrier leaves a notice and holds the parcel; collecting it within the carrier's holding period is your responsibility (see 5.9).
5.5 When we ship. We normally hand orders to the carrier within 1–2 business days after payment and any verification. Delivery times shown at checkout are the carrier's estimates, not guarantees.
5.6 Late delivery. Carrier delays, weather, strikes, remote locations and other events outside our control can slow delivery. If your order hasn't been Delivered within 30 days after the estimated delivery date shown at checkout, you may cancel it and we refund what you paid. If the parcel reaches you after you cancel, you must refuse it or return it unused within 7 days at our cost, or keep it and pay for it again.
5.7 Who is responsible for the parcel. We're responsible for your parcel until it is Delivered. From that moment, loss, theft and damage are your responsibility.
5.8 Our packing records. When we pack an order, we photograph the products, their serial numbers and other identifying details, and the packed parcel, and we record the weight of the sealed parcel. Together with the carrier's tracking and delivery records, these are the records we use to decide any claim about what was shipped, what was in a parcel, or whether it arrived.
5.9 Refused, unclaimed and undeliverable parcels. If you refuse a parcel (unless it's visibly damaged — see 6.3), don't collect it within the carrier's holding period, or it can't be delivered because of the address or because nobody was available, the carrier returns it to us. Once it's back and has passed inspection under 7.8, we refund the price of the products minus: the original shipping (if your shipping was free, what it cost us); the carrier's return charges; and a restocking fee of 20% of the price paid, which applies to every product in the parcel, including final-sale and warranty-only items. If you'd rather have it sent again, you pay the shipping again.
5.10 Shipping insurance. We may insure parcels for our own protection while they're with the carrier. This doesn't change when a parcel counts as Delivered or who is responsible after delivery, and you can't claim on it directly.
5.11 An order may arrive in more than one parcel.
6. Problems with a delivery
Report a delivery problem through your account (open the order and choose Report a problem), by email to [email protected] or by phone, with your order number. The deadlines below exist because carriers only investigate for a short time; after a deadline, the carrier may not help and we may not be able to approve the claim.
6.1 Lost in transit (tracking stops moving)
- (a) If tracking hasn't moved for 5 business days, or shows the parcel is lost or on its way back to us, tell us.
- (b) We open an investigation with the carrier. It usually takes 5–10 business days.
- (c) If the carrier confirms the parcel is lost, or can't find it by the end of its investigation, we send a replacement or refund you (our choice; a refund if the product is no longer available). We don't replace or refund while the investigation is open, except under 5.6.
- (d) If the parcel turns up after we've replaced or refunded it, you must tell us, and either return it unused at our cost or pay for it.
6.2 Marked "Delivered" but you can't find it
- (a) Tell us within 3 days after the carrier marks it delivered. After that we may not be able to open a carrier investigation, and the claim will be declined.
- (b) Before you report it: check the delivery photo and details in the tracking, look around your property and building, and ask the people you live with, your neighbours, and any concierge, mailroom, reception desk or parcel locker. Carriers sometimes mark a parcel delivered a day early, so allow one business day.
- (c) We check the carrier's proof of delivery and, where the carrier allows, open an investigation. You agree to cooperate: answer the carrier's questions and, if asked, sign a written statement that you didn't receive the parcel and file a police report. If you don't, the claim is declined.
- (d) The result:
- If the carrier's records (delivery photo, GPS position, signature or pickup record) show the parcel was Delivered as defined in section 2 — to your address, to someone there, or where you or someone at your address asked — your order is complete, and we don't refund or replace it. Theft after delivery is a matter for the police and your home, tenant or car insurance; we'll give you the order and tracking documents you need for that.
- If the carrier's records show it was left at a different address, or the carrier confirms it was misdelivered or lost, we handle it as lost in transit (6.1).
- Where the records don't settle it, we decide using all the information available, including the carrier's findings and the history of claims on your account and address.
- (e) A signature counts as delivery whether it's your name, your initials, or the name of anyone at the address. A claim that a signature was forged is considered only with a police report, and only after the carrier's investigation.
- (f) After a delivery claim on an account or address, we may ship future orders with signature required or to a carrier pickup location, or decline future orders.
6.3 Damaged in delivery
- (a) If the outside of the parcel is visibly crushed, torn, wet or opened, photograph it before opening, with the shipping label showing. You can refuse it — we'll replace it or refund you once it's back with us — or accept it and, if possible, point out the damage to the driver.
- (b) Report the damage within 48 hours after delivery, with photos of: all sides of the outer box and the label; the packing inside; the product's own box; the product and the damage.
- (c) Keep the parcel, all the packing material and the product until the claim is closed. The carrier may inspect or collect them. If they've been thrown away, the carrier won't pay, and the claim can't be approved.
- (d) Damage reported after 48 hours, without photos, or when the outer box arrived undamaged, is handled as a defect claim under section 8, not as delivery damage.
- (e) When a delivery-damage claim is approved, we arrange the return of the damaged item and send a replacement or refund you (our choice; a refund if the product is no longer available).
6.4 A missing item, an empty box or the wrong item
- (a) Report it within 48 hours after delivery.
- (b) Send photos of: the parcel before opening, if possible (all sides, the label, the tape and seals); the packing slip; and everything that was in the parcel, laid out together. A photo of the parcel on a scale helps. We strongly recommend recording one continuous video while you open the parcel; it's the best evidence you can give us.
- (c) Keep the parcel, the packing and the contents until the claim is closed.
- (d) We compare your evidence with our packing photos, our serial-number records and the weight of the parcel recorded at packing and by the carrier. If our records show the item was packed and the weights match the complete order, the claim is declined. Otherwise we send the missing item or refund it.
- (e) If we sent the wrong product, don't install or use it. We arrange its return at our cost and send the right product once the wrong one is back with us, unused, complete and in the condition we sent it.
- (f) If an accessory is missing from inside a product box that was factory-sealed when it arrived, tell us within 48 hours with photos. We take it up with the manufacturer and replace the missing part once the manufacturer confirms it.
7. Returns
7.1 Except where the law requires otherwise, returns for any reason other than a defect are accepted only as this section and the product's return policy allow. Defects are covered by section 8.
7.2 Return policies. Each product shows its return policy on its page, in the cart, at checkout and on your receipt. The policy shown when you ordered applies:
- Returns with a restocking fee — accepted within 14 days after delivery if factory-sealed, unused and complete. A restocking fee of 20% of the price you paid for the item applies.
- Free returns — accepted within 14 days after delivery if unused and complete. No restocking fee. You may open the box to look at the product, but not use it.
- Final sale — no returns or exchanges. Defects are covered by section 8.
- Warranty only — no returns. Defects are covered by section 8.
7.3 Never returnable — whatever the product's policy says, except for defects under section 8:
- (a) memory cards and other storage, once their package is opened;
- (b) products that have been flashed, programmed, registered, paired, activated or connected to a vehicle (see 4.4);
- (c) products with cut, stripped, spliced or connected wires, used adhesive, or removed protective film;
- (d) subscriptions, SIM cards, licences and software keys, once activated;
- (e) special-order or non-stock products ordered for you;
- (f) clearance, open-box, refurbished and "as marked" items;
- (g) products whose serial-number label, warranty seal or manufacturer seal is missing, damaged or altered;
- (h) products damaged after delivery;
- (i) products not bought from our online store.
7.4 Asking for a return. Use Return an item on the order in your account, within the return window. The window counts from the delivery date in the carrier's tracking and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on its last day. We reply within 2 business days with a return authorization and instructions, or with the reason we can't accept the return. An authorization means we'll inspect the item; it doesn't guarantee a refund.
7.5 Sending it back
- (a) Ship it within 7 days after we authorize the return, to the address in our instructions, with the authorization number written on the shipping box (not on the product's own box). An expired authorization can be renewed only while the return window is still open.
- (b) Pack the product's own box inside a sturdy shipping box. Don't put tape, labels or writing on the product's box: it's part of what you're returning.
- (c) Return shipping is at your cost and risk. Use a tracked service and insure the parcel for its full value. We're not responsible for returns lost or damaged on the way to us; keep your tracking number and receipt. A return counts as received only when the carrier's tracking shows it delivered to us.
- (d) Parcels sent without an authorization, to a different address, or with charges for us to pay on arrival may be refused, and we're not responsible for them.
- (e) Returns at our shop are accepted only by appointment and with an authorization; we inspect the item at the counter with you.
7.6 What isn't refunded: the shipping charge for the original delivery (if your shipping was free, we deduct what it cost us); return shipping; carrier charges under 5.2 or 5.9; and the restocking fee where it applies. If returning an item takes the rest of your order below the free-shipping amount or a promotion's minimum, we also deduct the shipping we paid or the discount that no longer applies.
7.7 Complete returns, bundles and free gifts
- (a) The item must come back complete (see section 2). If anything is missing, we either refuse the return and send it back at your cost, or deduct the full regular price of each missing part — our choice.
- (b) Products sold together at a combined price (bundles and kits) are returned together. If you keep part of a bundle, we charge the parts you keep at their regular individual prices and deduct the difference from your refund.
- (c) Free gifts and bonus items given with an order must be returned unused with the product they came with; otherwise we deduct their regular price.
7.8 Inspection. We open every return on video and inspect it before refunding. We check that:
- (a) it's the same unit we shipped — its serial numbers and identifying details match our packing records for your order;
- (b) it's genuine, and in the condition its return policy requires (factory-sealed, or unused);
- (c) it's complete; and
- (d) it shows no sign of use, installation, programming, registration, activation or damage. For this we may check the device's settings, activation and registration status, firmware version and usage history.
Remove your memory card and delete your personal information before returning a device. We're not responsible for data left on a returned device, and we erase it.
7.9 If a return doesn't pass inspection. We email you the reason, with photos. You can have the item sent back to you by paying the return shipping within 30 days. If you don't, we send a final notice; if the item is still unclaimed 30 days after that notice, it's treated as abandoned and we may dispose of it, as far as the law allows. As a goodwill gesture we may instead offer a partial refund that reflects the item's condition, but we don't have to.
7.10 A different unit returned. If the serial number or identifying details don't match our records for your order, or the item is a different model, or an older, used, damaged or counterfeit unit, or the parcel is empty or contains something else, the return is refused and nothing is refunded. We keep the item and all the packaging as evidence until the matter is resolved, and may report the matter to the police, the carrier and our payment processor (see section 11).
7.11 Exchanges follow the same rules as returns. We send the new product once the returned one passes inspection; you pay, or we refund, any price difference, and you pay the shipping both ways. When you exchange a factory-sealed product for a different product of the same or a higher price, we waive the restocking fee.
7.12 Gifts. Refunds go only to the person who paid, to the original payment method.
8. Defects and warranty
8.1 What's covered. Products come with their manufacturer's warranty, for the period and on the conditions the manufacturer sets (shown on the product page or in the box). As the seller, we handle the claim with you. You also keep the legal rights described in 1.5.
8.2 Dead on arrival. If a product doesn't work when you first try it, tell us within 7 days after delivery, before installing it permanently. If our test confirms the fault, we send a replacement (or refund you if none is available) and pay the shipping both ways. A product that has been installed, or used after those 7 days, is handled under 8.4.
8.3 Troubleshoot with us first. Many reported faults turn out to be settings, memory cards, power or installation. Before we authorize a claim, we may ask you to reset or update the product; try another memory card, cable or power source; check fuses and connections; and send photos or a video showing the problem and how the product was installed (wiring, connections, fuses, mounting).
8.4 Making a claim. Ask through your account (Report a problem) with your order number. Send the product only after we authorize it, together with the parts needed to test it (for example the power cable, hard-wire kit or remotes). You pay the shipping to us, tracked and insured, except for dead-on-arrival claims (8.2). We pay to send an approved repair or replacement back to you within Canada. Products sent without an authorization may be refused.
8.5 Testing and outcome. We test the product, on video, and may send it to the manufacturer; this can take 2–6 weeks. If the fault is covered, the product is repaired, replaced with the same or an equivalent model (new or factory-refurbished, as the manufacturer supplies), or refunded, as we or the manufacturer decide, unless the law requires a particular remedy. A repaired or replacement product keeps the original warranty; the warranty doesn't start again.
8.6 No fault found, or not covered. If no fault is found, or the damage isn't covered (8.7), we tell you why, with photos. Before we return the product, you pay an inspection fee of $49 plus the return shipping; or we can quote you a repair or replacement. If you don't reply or pay within 30 days, 7.9 applies.
8.7 Not covered. The warranty doesn't cover damage or faults caused by:
- (a) installation, wiring, programming, flashing or removal not done by us — including wrong or reversed connections, wrong voltage, a wrong, missing or bypassed fuse, short circuits, poor grounding, wire taps, pinched or cut wires, and the wrong harness, module or firmware;
- (b) electrical damage from outside the product — burn marks, melted plastic or connectors, burnt components or circuit traces, or a burning smell. These are signs of an external electrical fault, and they aren't covered unless our inspection or the manufacturer's finds that an internal defect caused them;
- (c) the vehicle's electrical system: jump-starting, battery or alternator problems, voltage spikes, welding, or other accessories;
- (d) water or other liquids, moisture, car washes, or heat or cold outside the product's rated range;
- (e) accidents, impact, drops, cracked screens or lenses, vandalism, theft or attempted theft, and animals;
- (f) opening, modifying or repairing the product, or unofficial firmware or software;
- (g) removed, altered or unreadable serial numbers or labels;
- (h) accessories, power supplies or memory cards the manufacturer doesn't recommend (for dash cams: memory cards that aren't high-endurance, or counterfeit cards);
- (i) normal wear and tear: scratches, worn buttons and cases, adhesive, batteries and capacitors losing capacity, and lost remotes;
- (j) commercial, fleet or rideshare use, where the manufacturer excludes it.
8.8 Costs we don't cover: labour to diagnose, remove or reinstall a product (whoever does it), towing, vehicle rental, travel, lost time, and lost recordings or data — unless caused by our negligence or the law says otherwise.
8.9 Your vehicle. When a product is installed by anyone other than us, we're not responsible for damage to the vehicle, its electronics, battery, airbags, immobilizer, software or manufacturer's warranty, or for battery drain caused by settings (such as a dash cam's parking mode).
8.10 Your data. Back up your recordings and settings. Testing, repair or replacement can erase them.
9. Refunds
9.1 Refunds go only to the payment method used for the order — never as cash, a cheque or a gift card, and never to another card or person. If that card has been closed, your bank passes the refund on to you.
9.2 We issue refunds within 15 days after a return passes inspection or a claim is approved. Your bank may take 5–10 business days to show it.
9.3 A refund is the price you paid for the item (after any discount) and the tax on it, minus the deductions in 5.9, 7.6, 7.7 and 8.6.
9.4 We may hold a refund while a return or claim is being checked, or while a payment dispute about the same order is open.
9.5 One refund only. If you get your money back another way (a bank dispute, a carrier claim or insurance), we don't refund it as well, and you must repay anything paid twice.
10. Payment disputes (chargebacks)
10.1 Please contact us first. We reply within 1–2 business days and fix genuine problems quickly. A dispute with your bank freezes the order and slows everything down.
10.2 If you dispute a charge, we give your bank and the card network the full record of your order: the terms you agreed to (with the date, time and IP address), your account and sign-in activity, the bank's payment checks, our packing photos and serial-number records, the tracking and the carrier's delivery photo, GPS position or signature, and our messages with you. You agree that we may share this information for that purpose.
10.3 If your bank reverses a charge for products you still have, you must return them or pay for them.
10.4 If a dispute is decided in our favour, the charge stands. As far as the law allows, we may recover any amount owing and the costs we can show the dispute caused us, and we may refuse future orders.
10.5 Opening a dispute while a return or claim with us is open, or after we've already refunded you, is a double refund (see 9.5).
11. Fraud and abuse
11.1 We use information from your order, account, device and payment (such as your IP address and the bank's address and security-code checks) to prevent fraud, as our Privacy Policy explains.
11.2 We may refuse or cancel an order, require signature or pickup-location delivery, refuse a return or claim, or close an account when we reasonably believe there has been fraud or abuse, including:
- using a card without the holder's permission;
- a false claim of non-delivery, damage, a missing item or a defect;
- returning a different, used, damaged, counterfeit or incomplete item;
- buying products to use for a short time and then return them;
- an unusual number of returns or claims;
- buying for resale;
- threats or abuse toward our staff.
11.3 We keep a record of returns and claims linked to customers, addresses, payment methods and devices, and we may take it into account when deciding a claim.
11.4 We report suspected fraud to the police, and we cooperate with the police, carriers, card networks and our payment processor, sharing the information they need.
11.5 As far as the law allows, we may recover losses and reasonable costs caused by fraud, including legal and collection costs.
12. Your account and our messages
12.1 Keep the email address and phone number you use to sign in secure. Orders and requests made through your account are treated as yours, unless you tell us promptly that someone used it without your permission.
12.2 We contact you about your order by email, and by phone or text when needed, using the details you gave us. Keep them up to date and check your spam folder. A message we send to those details counts as received.
12.3 Only these terms and our written messages (email or your account) bind us. Something said on the phone or at the shop doesn't change these terms unless we confirm it in writing.
13. Limits of our responsibility
13.1 As far as the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about a product or an order is limited to what you paid for that product and its shipping, and we're not responsible for indirect losses such as lost income, lost time, vehicle rental, towing, travel, lost recordings or data, or damage caused by installation done by others.
13.2 This doesn't limit responsibility that the law doesn't allow us to limit, including the warranties consumer protection laws imply and responsibility for injury caused by our negligence.
13.3 We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as carrier disruptions, strikes, severe weather, power or internet outages, supply shortages or government action. Your right to cancel a late order under 5.6 still applies.
14. Privacy and records
14.1 We collect and use the personal information needed to process, deliver and support your order and to prevent fraud — including packing photos and serial numbers, the carrier's delivery photos and signatures, your IP address and account activity, and our messages with you. See our Privacy Policy (carsystemsinstallation.ca/page/privacy-policy).
14.2 We keep order records, including photos and videos, for at least 2 years, and longer while a claim or dispute is open.
15. Law, disputes, changes and contact
15.1 These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live in another province, the consumer protection laws of your province that can't be waived still protect you.
15.2 If something goes wrong, contact us first. We reply within 1–2 business days and try to resolve it within 10 business days. If we can't agree, either of us may go to the courts of Ontario, or to the courts where you live if your consumer protection law gives you that right.
15.3 If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in force.
15.4 If we don't enforce a term on one occasion, we can still enforce it later.
15.5 These terms, the return policy shown for each product and your order confirmation are the whole agreement for your order.
15.6 We may update these terms for future orders. The version you agreed to at checkout applies to your order.
